SIM cutters are available at mobile recharge outlets to cut the SIM in required dimension. These are risky option as the chip might get cut and it will become useless.
The best option is to obtain a new SIM card of your required type. You can get these SIM cards from your service operator service centre or normal SIM outlets.
How to change the SIM type?
eg: Idea SIM
Following steps are verified for getting IDEA SIM. Other network operators also follow similar procedure.
1. Go to your nearest Idea showroom or SIM outlet
2. Ask for a MNP SIM card and mention that you just want to change the SIM type of your existing connection.
3. Idea MNP SIM costs Rs.19
4. Once you purchase the SIM, make sure that it has all the available option to cut it down to Mini/Micro/Nano
5. Send an SMS from your existing SIM: "SIM<space><New SIM card ID>" to 12345
6. You will get a confirmation SMS
7. Reply "Y"
Your new SIM will be active in 2-3 hrs.
Note: SMS service will be disabled for 24hrs. Internet connectivity will be disabled until new SIM is active
Once the old SIM is inactive, break the new SIM to your required type and start using it.
